The article was not indeed funny. Though there were a few chuckles, I honestly thought it wasn't funny. She is your mother which really doesn't make it funny but on the contrary serious and nasty. Maybe a few hyper-boles would have made it funnier or at least funny. The article was satire. Even though it wasn't funny, it did try to bring in a few laughs which in my opinion failed. In a satire there are always a purpose in the article. This had a purpose or a .. point. The point in this article was basically that insist is wrong. The point is sometimes focused on a serious event and I'm guessing this is one of those serious events. Insist is wrong. They're your family. You're closest friends, your blood. Since based on serious events, I guess that this has happened before and are trying to prevent this from happening again since this is "serious". What I have just implied are devices that are to show or prove to you that this indeed was a satire. The article has all the qualities of a satire, like a point behind it, it was comedy, and was based on serious events.
